ALKOvin

ALKOvin™ is a one-piece sealing liner from the Meyer Seals® family of pressure seals.

ALKOvin™ offers a perfect combination of closed-cell polyethylene foam and high-quality barrier films for protecting wine and preserving its aroma – guaranteeing the purity of taste!

With a complete and varied range of sealing liners for aluminium caps, Meyer Seals® can meet the most diverse requirements for wine storage and maturation processes.

It has been argued for many years that cork has the desirable property of allowing wine to “breathe”. However, the cork’s permeability to oxygen varies just as widely as its quality does. This means that the producer cannot rely on consistent, controlled oxygen ingress. The solution is ALKOvin™. The mechanical properties of the barrier films used ensures consistent sealing system performance over the long term.

Consistent performance

The closed-cell polyethylene foam core’s elasticity allows Meyer Seals® ALKOvin™ sealing liner to compensate for system tolerances between the cap and the bottle, significantly contributing to the prevention of leaks when there is minor damage to the aperture surface. The outstanding level of shape recovery in this family of sealing liners ensures reliable functionality and safety throughout the entire storage period.

Safety

Decades of experience and the use of materials from reliable, responsible suppliers allows Meyer Seals® to guarantee the high quality of our ALKOvin™ sealing liners. Strictly controlled processes enable Meyer Seals® to ensure consistent quality throughout the chain of production.

Consistent quality

Independent research in recent years has shown that the cork taint is so unpleasant for consumers and wine connoisseurs’ which is caused by the migration of the chemical compound trichloranisole (TCA) or tribromo anisole (TBA) from the corks into the wine. About 5% of wine bottles closed with corks exhibit cork taint, making their contents unpalatable to consumers. Meyer Seals® ALKOvin™ range does not release any aroma-impairing substances into the wine, ensuring a consistently high level of aroma protection. The aroma, a wine producer's individual signature, enjoys reliable, long-lasting protection with Meyer Seals® ALKOvin™.

ALKOvin active

ALKOvin active

The innovative ALKOvin™ active liner addresses a problem that regularly faces wine producers worldwide. Among wine professionals, the terms "reductive flavour" and "post bottling off-flavour" are used to describe a phenomenon regularly reported by experts. With this revolutionary liner, ALKOvin™ active eliminates reductive conditions (low oxygen) in the bottle preventing and eliminating the formation of volatile sulphur compounds. Undesirable sulphurous odours are unwelcome consequences for consumers and producers, and the resulting commercial losses are severe. With its active layer, ALKOvin™ active is a revolutionary new product that binds and deactivates these sulphur compounds, protecting the wine's precious aroma. ALKOvin™ active reduces oxygen ingress to zero and is free from chlorinated hydrocarbons (PVDC). A 4-year study by the highly regarded AWRI (Australian Wine Research Institute) confirms the effectiveness of the ALKOvin™ active liner (study available on request here).
ALKOvin™ active is supplied as a pre-cut disc.

ALKOvin™ Saranex® guarantees a controlled low level of oxygen ingress.

ALKOvin EVOH

ALKOvin EVOH

Combined with Meyer Seals® ALKOzell™ closed-cell foam, ALKOvin™ EVOH offers a sealing system with excellent protection against oxygen ingress. ALKOvin™ EVOH guarantees a controlled low level of oxygen transmission. This sealing liner is free from chlorinated hydrocarbons (PVDC).

ALKOvin tin

ALKOvin tin

ALKOvin™ tin offers the most effective barrier to oxygen ingress over long periods. The ALKOzell™ foam core is laminated with a tin/PVDC film. The soft film of tin positively forms around the bottle aperture. Thus, resulting in a sealing liner that reduces oxygen ingress to zero. Wine bottles sealed with ALKOvin™ tin provide excellent long-term aroma protection.
